Surigao del Norte State University (often abbreviated SNSU) is a public state university in the province of Surigao del Norte, Philippines, mandated to provide quality tertiary education, research, and community service to its region. Its main campus is in Surigao City, with several extension campuses in other municipalities of the province.
🏛️ History & Establishment
- SNSU traces its roots back to 1969 when it began as the Surigao del Norte School of Arts and Trades.
- In 1998, it was renamed the Surigao State College of Technology after incorporating the Malimono School of Fisheries.
- Republic Act No. 10600 was enacted on June 4, 2013, officially establishing the Surigao del Norte State University by integrating three institutions — the Surigao State College of Technology (Surigao City), Siargao National College of Science and Technology (Del Carmen), and Surigao del Norte College of Agriculture and Technology (Mainit).
- After working to meet requirements of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), SNSU received full university status in 2022.
