Magpupungko Temporary Closure

📢 ADVISORY: TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF MAGPUPUNGKO BEACH, TIDAL POOL, AND ROCK FORMATION

In accordance with Municipal Ordinance No. 014, Series of 2023 (Tourism Holiday), as implemented through Executive Order No. 26-01-260, Series of 2026, and pursuant to Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 034, Series of 2026, the Municipality of Pilar announces the temporary closure of Magpupungko Beach, Tidal Pool, and Rock Formation in Barangay Pilaring, Pilar, Surigao del Norte, from February 1 to 15, 2026, as authorized by the Municipal Mayor, Hon. Jeasa C. Gonzales.

The temporary closure is intended to allow the area to recover and regenerate, enhance the capacity of tourism workers through skills training, and implement environmental protection and safety measures, ensuring a safer, more sustainable, and improved tourism experience for visitors and stakeholders.

The local government respectfully seeks the understanding and cooperation of the public in support of this initiative to preserve one of Pilar’s prime eco-tourism destinations.
