Accomplishment Against Illegal Drugs

At around 3:00 AM of January 10, 2014, in the vicinity of Brgy. 4, Gen. Luna, Surigao del Norte, a joint operation of General Luna MPS led by SPO2 Floripito Malaza, Surigao del Norte Special Operation Task Group led by PSI MARIANO C. LUKBAN, under close supervision and direction of PSSUPT JULITO M. DIRAY, Acting PD SDN PPO conducted search operation at the domicile of the suspect identified as GILBERT FIGURON alias “Bert”, legal age, former PNP member, resident of Brgy. 4, General Luna, Surigao del Norte by virtue of Search Warrant Nr 1326-2014 for Violation of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Search Warrant Nr 1327-2014 for Violation of RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) issued by Hon. Emmanuel E. Escatron, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 2, Butuan City, dated January 7, 2014.

During the raid, suspect fired his firearm of unknown caliber against the raiding team and managed to evade the arrest towards dark and unknown direction upon sensing their arrival at the area.

The raiding officers duly informed the parents of the respondent on the contents of the aforementioned Search Warrants, however, the same refuses to acknowledge the said order. Despite of their refusal, the raiding team started to search the room occupied by the suspect as reflected in the aforesaid search warrants. The searched was witnessed by Hon. Ronald Consigo, Punong Barangay of Brgy. 4, Gen. Luna, Surigao del Norte, Mr. Jessie Digol from DOJ representative, and Mr. Natz Corbeta, Media representative from GMA 7.

Seized inside the room of the suspect were as follows:

a. Twelve (12) Sachet of suspected Shabu;
b. Two (2) big tea bags of suspected Marijuana;
c. Four (4) units of Cellular phone;
d. Cash worth Ph 5,010.00 pesos in different denomination;
e. Seventeen (17) pcs. of live ammunitions of .45 cal;
f. Nine (9) pcs. of live ammunitions of 9mm;
g. Thirteen (13) pcs. of 9mm empty shells; and
h. Drug Paraphernalia

The inventory and markings of evidence were done at the area of operation. Suspect’s parents further refused to sign and acknowledge the items seized as reflected in the Receipt/Inventory of Property Seized and Certification of Orderly Search. The witnesses signed the said receipts. Thereafter, all confiscated items were immediately brought to Gen. Luna Municipal Police Station for proper disposition.

Formal charges against GILBERT FIGURON alias “Bert” are now being prepared for filing in court.
